Animator
Animator
Make things move, and move well. Micro-interactions, UI transitions, onboarding flows, motion graphics. Timing matters as much as design
Why This Role Exists
Turn static ideas into unforgettable moments
At thumpN, how the app feels is as important as how it looks. Animation is not decoration, it is part of how users understand the product, navigate between moments, and feel something when a ticket lands in their pocket. As we raise the bar on product quality, we need someone who can own motion end-to-end.
This is a hands-on role. You will work directly with designers and hand off to engineers. You have shipped animations inside real products and you know what survives the gap between After Effects and a live app.
What You'll Actually Do
Real responsibilities, not a wish list
In-product animation
Design and build micro-interactions, UI transitions, and onboarding flows for iOS and Android.
Work with the product and design team to identify where motion adds clarity or delight, and where it gets in the way.
Export and spec animations using Lottie for clean, accurate developer handoff.
QA animations in production and iterate until they feel right on device.
Motion graphics and brand moments
Create short motion graphics for social, in-app campaigns, and brand activations when needed.
Maintain consistency between product motion and broader brand expression.
Contribute to a motion language that scales as the product grows.
Collaboration and craft
Work closely with designers, product managers, and engineers throughout the build cycle.
Communicate clearly about constraints, timelines, and trade-offs.
Use AI tools where they genuinely speed things up without compromising quality.
What You Bring
Specific experience, not vague credentials
Required
3 or more years of experience as an animator working on digital products.
Expert-level proficiency in After Effects.
Strong working knowledge of Lottie, including export, optimization, and handoff.
Experience shipping animations inside live mobile or web products, not just concept work.
Ability to export and spec animations for developer handoff with precision.
Familiarity with AI tools and a clear sense of where they are actually useful.
Preferred
Experience working in a product design team at a consumer app or startup.
Exposure to design tools like Figma and how motion fits into a design system.
Background in entertainment, media, or consumer-facing products.
A portfolio that includes both product UI work and motion graphics.
Non-Negotiables
How we know this is the right fit
You have strong opinions on motion. You know the difference between animation that communicates and animation that decorates. You push back when something is gratuitous.
You spot what needs to move before anyone asks. You are not waiting for a brief. You watch the product, notice what feels static or unclear, and bring a point of view.
You care about how a product feels, not just how it looks. Timing, easing, weight, and rhythm are not afterthoughts. They are the work.
You survive the handoff. Your animations make it to production intact. You know how to spec, how to communicate with engineers, and how to QA the result.
You thrive in a small, fast-moving team. There is no large motion team here. You are comfortable owning the craft and making decisions independently.
