Manager - Accounts Receivable
Manager - Accounts Receivable
Why This Role Exists
Concerts, comedy nights, sports, and festivals all run through thumpN, and each one leaves a trail: sales to record, bank credits to match, taxes to get right, and a settlement to close once the curtain comes down. When any of that slips, organisers wait on their money and our own numbers stop telling the truth.
You'll own accounts receivable end to end. That means the daily entries nobody notices until they're wrong, the Thursday reconciliations, and the month-end MIS leadership plans around. It's detail-heavy, deadline-driven work, and you'll have a junior teammate to build the process with.
What You'll Actually Do
Sales, settlements, and receipts
Own daily sales entry and monitoring, so the books always match what actually sold.
Complete event settlements within one day of the event wrapping up.
Post bank entries for every payout and receipt, and track sales receipts against bank credits until every gap is closed.
Reconcile advances against recouped amounts every Thursday.
Raise sales proforma invoices whenever they're needed.
Tax, compliance, and controls
Keep TDS and TCS compliance accurate and current.
Make sure sales return filings go out on time.
Own Thumps tracking and the accounting entries behind it.
Track discounts so revenue reflects what fans actually paid.
Reporting and visibility
Deliver MIS by the 2nd or 3rd working day of every month.
Prepare the monthly sales reconciliation: a summary of every event completed and settled in the previous month, covering thumpN's revenue from income and commission.
Analyse and update sales reports, and maintain the live event tracker and the sports tracker.
Maintain the prepaid and unbilled listing.
Prepare the ageing report for debtors, pending receipts, and long-due advances, so nothing sits quietly overdue.
What You Bring
Required
5+ years in accounts receivable, revenue accounting, or a similar finance role, ideally with high transaction volumes.
Semi-qualified CA or MBA (Finance).
Strong working knowledge of Tally, GST, TDS/TCS, and statutory filing processes.
Proven ability to run AR independently: process discipline, vendor and collections management, and closing rigour.
Strong Excel skills. You build trackers and reconciliations other people can read without a walkthrough.
Comfortable managing a junior team member and coordinating across teams to close open items.
Preferred
Experience in ticketing, events, e-commerce, marketplaces, or another high-volume consumer business.
Experience handling settlements or payouts across many partners at once.
Familiarity with payment gateway reconciliations.
Genuine interest in live entertainment and how the business behind it works.
Non-Negotiables
• You close on time, every time. Organisers wait on settlements and leadership waits on MIS. A missed deadline here doesn't stay small.
• You reconcile to the last rupee. "Roughly matches" isn't a number we can file, report, or settle against.
• You don't let compliance slide. TDS, TCS, and GST errors turn into notices and penalties. Getting it right the first time is the job.
• You build systems, not heroics. The process should run cleanly even on the days you're not in the room. That's how your junior teammate grows too.
• You move with the event calendar. Settlements follow shows, not office hours, so some weeks will be heavier than others. You plan for it instead of getting caught by it.
