Manager - Accounts Payable
Manager - Accounts Payable
Why This Role Exists
Behind every gig on thumpN is a chain of venues, artists, production crews, and marketing partners. When their payments land late or wrong, that trust cracks fast, and in live entertainment, relationships are everything. As we scale across India, invoice volumes are climbing and payables needs someone who can own it end to end.
You'll run AP independently, build the process discipline that keeps it clean at scale, and lead a junior team member while you do it.
What You'll Actually Do
Invoices and payments
Review, code, and process a high volume of vendor, tour, and marketing invoices in our accounting system.
Run three-way matching against purchase orders and receiving documents before anything gets paid.
Process weekly payment batches by bank transfer and cheque, so venues and partners are paid accurately and on schedule.
Review employee expense reports and hold them to our travel and expense policy.
Reconciliation, closing, and compliance
Reconcile vendor statements every month and track down discrepancies in amounts, payment terms, or outstanding balances.
Own the AP side of month-end close: every invoice recorded, accruals booked for unbilled expenses.
Get TDS/TCS deductions, GST input checks, and statutory filings right and on time, every cycle.
Keep financial records organised, audit-ready, and compliant with Ind AS.
Team and partners
Manage and coach a junior team member, growing their skills as the function grows.
Be the go-to for artists, venues, and vendors with payment questions, and resolve issues before they escalate.
Work with Events, Marketing, and Operations so spends are approved, documented, and coded correctly from the start.
What You Bring
Required
5+ years in accounts receivable, revenue accounting, or a similar finance role, ideally with high transaction volumes.
Semi-qualified CA or MBA (Finance).
Strong working knowledge of Tally, GST, TDS/TCS, and statutory filing processes.
Proven ability to run AP independently: process discipline, vendor and collections management, and closing rigour.
Strong Excel skills. You build trackers and reconciliations other people can read without a walkthrough.
Comfortable managing a junior team member and coordinating across teams to close open items.
Sharp attention to detail: you catch a mismatched PO before it becomes a reconciliation headache.
Preferred
• Experience in media, entertainment, events, or another high-volume, multi-vendor business.
• Familiarity with automated AP tools, payment platforms, or ERP systems beyond Tally.
• Experience supporting statutory audits or working with external CA firms.
• Genuine interest in live entertainment and the business behind it.
Non-Negotiables
• You treat every payment like someone is waiting on it. Because they are, and an artist or venue paid late remembers it the next time we ask for a show.
• You build processes, not workarounds. What works at 100 invoices a month breaks at 1,000, and we are heading there.
• You own the close. Month-end does not wait, and neither do the auditors.
• You can be firm and friendly at the same time. You'll say no to a non-compliant claim and keep the relationship intact.
• You stay steady when the calendar spikes. Festival season and big tour weeks mean payment volumes surge with little warning.
